A South Georgia Tradition, Made to Share

Rusty Pig started with a simple idea: our community needed another place to gather and enjoy a good meal.

When a convenience store property became available, we saw an opportunity to turn it into something more. That's how Rusty Pig came to life.

From the beginning, the menu was built around family recipes. Some of the things we still serve today came straight from our family, like our barbecue sauce, which was my granddaddy Henry O'Neal's recipe, and our chewy bread from my grandmother, Gladys Dasher.

Our Brunswick stew is no different.

What makes it special is that we use the same fresh smoked chicken and pork that we serve in the restaurant. It's not made separately or differently; it's part of what we do every day.

In South Georgia, Brunswick stew is more than just a dish. It's a tradition. It's something families have made and shared for generations. It's the kind of dish that brings people together, whether it's around the dinner table, at a gathering, or just sharing a simple meal with family and friends.

Over time, customers started asking if they could take it home, and eventually if we could ship it to family and friends.

It's also one of those meals that somehow gets even better over time. After it's been made, chilled, and reheated, the flavors come together in a way that makes it even richer.

That's part of what makes it such a great meal to share, whether you're feeding a crowd or just looking for something simple and comforting.

At the end of the day, we hope when people sit down with a bowl of our Brunswick stew, they can share a few laughs and experience exactly what it's meant to be: good food, easy to enjoy, and something that brings people together.
